Insurance claim denied or disagreement about repairs only? What should I do next?

Full roof replacement denied?

From time to time, we run into homeowners unsatisfied with the outcome of an insurance claim made for their damaged property. This can be frustrating for our customers.  When you file an insurance claim for storm related damage to your property, there are generally three possible outcomes.

  1. Denial. This is where the insurance carrier disagrees with damages to your property and denies any coverage due to many different potential reasons.

   2. Repair.  This is where an insurance company agrees that certain parts of your roof or home require repair, but not necessarily major replacement work.

   3. Replacement.  This is where the insurance company agrees that full systems (Roofs, Siding, etc.) must be replaced in their entirety to fix the damage.  However the true cost to do so may still be a disagreement.

While we as a contractor cannot directly advise you on what your policy does and does not cover, nor can we "settle" a claim for you on your behalf as many, "less than professional" contractors falsely advertise to the public, we can educate you on the proper and common construction practices that your insurance company may have overlooked when prescribing a repair method.  At the end of the day, insurance companies aren't roofers, and they aren't always well versed in the proper way to do repairs in compliance with local building codes and manufacturer installation instructions.

At DTE Roofing LLC, we know how to build a roof system.  After numerous consultations with customers, we have seen it time and time again. Homeowners finally bridging the gap and receiving the outcomes they believe they deserve after we have provided them with the education and knowledge of the way repairs should or should not under any circumstances, be done.  We can also provide valuable, and transparent insight as to what all goes into the pricing of work, should there be a disagreement on what is reasonable and necessary.

Give us a call, for a free consultation to see if we may be able to help you too.
